The Boys’ Brigade at the Lord Mayor’s Show

It was great to see two groups of Boys’ Brigade Members take part in the Lord Mayor’s Show this year.

The London Massed Bugle Band were involved as they are every year, with members from Boys’ Brigade & Girls’ Brigade companies across London playing as they marched through the streets of London. Even more impressive was the skill the young people had considering the challenging circumstances for bands over the last couple of years as they have been unable to meet during the various COVID-19 lockdowns.

For the first time in a number of years, YOU (Youth Organisation in Uniform) London were also in attendance and five young people from the 2nd West Kent, along with a leader from 4th Barnet and the London Development & Support Worker represented The Boys’ Brigade as part of this float. As well as The Boys’ Brigade, representatives of St John Ambulance Cadets, Army Cadets, Air Cadets, Sea Cadets, Scouts Fire Cadets and Volunteer Police Cadets made up the total of 45 people who were part of the YOU London contingent.

Thank you to the leaders at the 2nd West Kent who arranged for their young people to attend as part of YOU London at short notice due to a few other young people dropping out at the last minute. All the young people had a great time and they all said they wanted to return next year.

We will be working behind the scenes to try and be able to come back again next year as part of a YOU London float, displaying to the benefits of working together with other uniformed youth organisations and ensuring that we are visible to members of the public along with these other great organisations.
