We had a good number of events taking place during November including the YOU London Leadership Conference and the Lord Mayor’s Show. This has been in addition to all the usual weekly meetings with company’s across London, along with leaders meeting and discussing plans at various levels to support our children and young people to thrive!
Six of our young people attended the YOU London Leadership Conference at Alleyns School at the beginning of the month with all of them rating it highly. The conference brought all the Uniformed Youth organisations together and there were a number of challenges, scenarios and talks throughout the weekend, with a talk by Sally Orange being the clear favourite amongst the young people. Leaders who attended, also had fun taking part with the virtual reality headsets and driving a remote control tank, amongst other things! The young people enjoyed finding out about the other organisations who attended and at least one has since gone on to join the Army Cadets. The young people stayed overnight at the Cadet Centre in Blackheath and our Development & Support Worker drove them between the two locations – apparently he is a very good Chauffeur and so if he ever fancies a career change… All in all, it was a very successful weekend and we can’t wait to see what’s on offer next year.

The Lord Mayor’s show had two floats containing young people from The Boys’ Brigade this year. The Massed Band as ever, performed brilliantly and even managed to get a slot on the BBC’s coverage (about 36 minutes in if you missed it and want to catch up on iPlayer). Right behind them was YOU London with a group of young people from the 4th London representing the BB. Despite the setbacks which included the colour carrier breaking shortly before we set off, the day was dry and the warmest it has been at the Lord Mayor’s Show for a number of years. The young people had a great time and they all said they would love to do it again!
Companies were also out in force in their local areas for local remembrance parades and it was good to see the BB represented all across London. Below are a few photos of the remembrance services that our young people attended.

The other big event that took place in November was the North London Jack Petchey awards evening, where members of The Boys’ Brigade joined with other youth clubs from across North London to receive their achievement awards. Find out more about the achievement awards here.

We hope that you had a successful month at your Company and are looking forward to Christmas.
